COVID-19 Small Business Update from Congressman Dan Meuser

Good Morning,

I hope that you and your family were able to enjoy the Easter weekend considering all that is happening. There is good news on the horizon! It truly is amazing to see how many wonderful organizations are working so hard to help our local community! Here is your morning update:

1. The SAFER program opens today for departments looking to hire, recruit and train firefighters. Applications run through May 15. Please let me know if we can help!

• More than 800,000 loans have been distributed to small businesses
• More than $200 billion in loans have been processed 
• Nearly 4,500 lenders have participated

3. There are still banks out there that are taking applications for PPP loans. I have attached a document that our office put together on Friday calling around to banks throughout our district and asking if they were still offering the loans. Our office cannot endorse any bank, we are just providing information as we receive it [see button below].

 

4. PA has begun to implement the extra $600 per week to qualifying individuals. They should see this additional money starting sometime this week if they filed a claim on April 4.

• Self employed workers still are not able to file for unemployment, but should be able to do so shortly.

5. Caron Treatment Center is offering a FREE online Mindfulness-based support group for healthcare professionals treating COVID-19 patients. Attached is more information! [see button below]
